Help yourself to find new music on the web!
Times when the word of mouth was the only way to get to know new bands and their music, fall in love with them and finally find some more are past. This long and unsure process of making new music discoveries is over. Let’s bring it on, Mr Internet.
Today’s music industry relies so much on the Web that if somebody found a way to take it away from them they would loose incredible amount of customers and revenue. The easiness of posting new music online is amazing. You can create your bands profile on MySpace and promote yourself there, you can post your videos on YouTube and you’ll get some attention (the better your music the more views you’re going to get). But the best way I have discovered to get to know better the music that you love is to sing up with Last.fm or Pandora (if you live in the U.S.).
These two projects are making new discoveries so much easier. On Last.fm just start scrobbling the music you have on your PC or Mac and the site will analyze it and find some more music that you like based on what you have given to it.
Pandora is not going to go through you hard drive to search for some music. Just enter your favorite song or artist name and Pandora will search for what you may like. If you like it, mark it with thumb-up, if don’t you know what to do. Based on your decisions Pandora will really start playing your favorite music. The songs that they are airing are described using hundreds of parameters, like tone, mood, aggressiveness, pace, and so on.
We all look for new and fresh. But only few knew how to find it. Now we all can start looking for the music we really like.
